Title: YouthCaN Environmental Project

Summary: Students facilitate an on-line network of students using telecommunications technologies to undertake and/or share environmental work locally and around the world.

Description: Students write about and interact on environmental issues facing their communities during the year. Since 1995, a youth planning committee has coordinated an annual event in April, which brings together youth of the world to share how they are using technology in environmental projects. Among the projects taking place as part of YouthCaN are Hike the World, and the Solar Cooking Project.

  • Outcomes: Our expected outcomes are to inspire other cities and nations to have their own YouthCaNs so that one day every human may participate positively and effectively toward a healthy planet Earth. Ongoing, physical meetings worldwide in March and April, including a conference at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
