Title: Four Rivers, One World

Summary: A scientific comparison of the content and quality of rivers around the world - focusing primarily on rivers in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and the United States.

Description: iEARN-Bangladesh, iEARN-India, iEARN-Nepal, and iEARN-USA will work in partnership with Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education (CIESE) at Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, USA and the WaterKeeper Alliance, NYC, USA to conduct the Four Rivers, One World Project. This project promotes active and responsible citizenship through international environmental science collaboration among science teachers and their students in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and the United States. Through support from the US Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, a small team of participants in these countries have participated in river excursions with "hands-on" scientific water analysis, community service projects, professional mentoring and networking, videoconferences, and workshop presentations. Teachers and students also shared their results at the 2008 iEARN YouthCaN Conference. Students are encouraged to sample the water from additional local rivers in their community and share their findings with the wider iEARN community.
