AYV Summer Training Dates This year, the AYV Summer Institutes will be a jam-packed three days to learn new media, delve deeper into media literacy education, develop storytelling and artistry, and prepare curriculum and program ideas for the upcoming year. AYV Completed Media Projects
The AYV community, of educators and students around the globe, have completed yet another rewarding year of creating media. Students have produced thought-provoking media about school, their personal lives or situations, or social issues of today. Using digital tools, students have learned to become media craftsmen enabling them to express and capture their views to share with a larger audience and make a difference in their communities.
Congratulations to all the educators, media mentors, and youth for a great AYV year! Animation: Students from APSA, an NGO in Bangalore, India use Adobe Flash to create an animation depicting the history, treatment, and pride countrymen have for their national flag. Watch this animation
Audio Interview: William Tatlonghair, of Burton High School in San Franciso, CA use audio entitled, Juanita Tatlonghair - WWII Survivor, to capture his grandmother's personal experience surviving the Japanese invasion of the Philippines during World War II. Public Service Announcement: Created by students from Newcomers High School in Queens, NY - this short PSA video, No More Silences, explores issues surrounding rights of immigrants, specifically spousal abuse of nondocumented households.  Video: 6th Graders, June Travis and Anya Oleck from the Institutue for Collaborative Education in New York, created this video entitled, The UFO, using Adobe Premiere. The video targets children 7 year old and explores their experience growing plants for their science class.  Documentary Video: Juniors Priscilla Silva and Luis Acuchi, from June Jordan High School in San Francisco, CA - produce a video examining global warming with footage and face-to-face interviews. Audio Commentary: Listen to a New Era of Poetry, a spoken word commentary created by Spencer Adams, a sophomore at Nathan Hale High School is Seattle, WA.
