Title: Four Rivers, One World

Summary: A comparison of rivers around the world - focusing primarily on rivers in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and the United States.

Description: iEARN-Bangladesh, iEARN-India, iEARN-Nepal, and iEARN-USA will work in partnership with Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education (CIESE) at Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, USA and the WaterKeeper Alliance, NYC, USA to conduct the Four Rivers, One World Project. This project promotes active and responsible citizenship through international environmental science collaboration among science teachers and their students in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and the United States. Through support from the US Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, a small team of participants in these countries will participate in river excursions with "hands-on" water analysis, community service projects, professional mentoring and networking, videoconferences, and workshop presentations. All iEARN participants are invited to participate in the project's online forum, and can learn more about the project at the 2008 iEARN YouthCaN Conference. Students are encouraged to sample the water from local rivers in their community and share their findings with the wider iEARN community.
